This plant has been used for centuries as a herb that improves the taste and aroma of dishes, but also because it increases the secretion of digestive juices, which facilitates metabolism and reduces gas. Fresh basil leaves can be directly added to dishes, basil can also be dried, frozen or aromatic oil prepared. If we serve raw basil, it is better to mash it with good olive oil or tear it into pieces with your fingers than to cut it with a knife.
Basil adds flavor to many dishes with the addition of tomatoes, legumes, pasta, pizza, various types of salads, sauces and cheeses, and even desserts and drinks. It is recommended as an addition to marinades for meat and fish.
