Buy coffee online and enjoy aromatic coffee beans

For coffee lovers, there is nothing better than drinking a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The prerequisite for this, of course, are high-quality coffee beans that have been roasted using the gentle long-term roasting process. This ensures the best coffee enjoyment for every type, regardless of whether you prefer an intense aroma or a mild and rounded variant.
Ambrosia has been a competent partner for coffee beans since 2008 and has an extensive range of different coffee products ready for fans of the popular drink, which leave nothing to be desired. This is also no wonder, as coffee beans have become an indispensable luxury item that every household can no longer imagine without. But what makes coffee beans so unique and since when can you buy coffee? To answer this question we have to go way back in history ...
The origins of coffee can be found in the Middle East, where legends about the discovery of coffee are still entwined today. A Maronite monk named Naironus Banesius is said to have observed a herd of goats that was behaving strangely. The goats were unusually lively at night and could not sleep. Therefore, the monk went on the trail of the riddle and discovered a dark green plant with fruits in the colors green, yellow and red, which strongly resembled cherries, on the animals' pasture. In order to investigate the peculiar effects of the plant more closely, the monk poured himself a brew from the fruits and found that the tiredness disappeared when you drank it.
Scientists now assume that the Kaffa region in southwest Ethiopia is the region of origin of coffee, because the unique effect of the popular drink was mentioned there as early as the 9th century. From there, the coffee beans probably came to Arabia in the 14th century through slave traders and were then processed into tasty coffee in Persia, the Ottoman Empire, Syria and Asia Minor. From there it was not far to Europe. Coffee could already be bought in Venice, Oxford, Vienna and London as early as 1600. The triumph of coffee could no longer be stopped.

Sour coffee - how to improve the taste?

Sour coffee is probably the last thing most coffee lovers want to experience in their cup. How to get rid of the sour taste in coffee? It is not a difficult thing, it is enough to follow a few treatments.

Bad acidity

If you came across this post, it means. that you are familiar with the sour taste of coffee and you would like to get rid of it as soon as possible. You've probably experienced a vinegar-sour, astringent and pungent aftertaste that takes away your craving for coffee right away. This is our problem that we want to remedy. You will ask what happened that the coffee you drank for a long time suddenly turned sour. The answer should be sought in the method of brewing coffee.

How to brew coffee so that it is not sour

Generally, coffee will be more acidic if it has not been brewed strongly enough, i.e. extraction has not taken place sufficiently. The degree of extraction can be adjusted using the following parameters: water temperature, degree of grinding, brewing time, coffee dose.

If your coffee is acidic, try the following:

  • increase the water temperature
  • grind the coffee finely
  • extend the brewing time
  • reduce the amount of coffee

In addition, the extraction may be influenced by factors such as the method of brewing, water composition or the degree of roasting of the beans. If the coffee grounds are mixed vigorously during brewing, the extraction should be fuller, i.e. the coffee should be less acidic. However, when it comes to the composition of water, if it has a lot of minerals, the coffee will not extract well in it, so it is likely to be more acidic. Moreover, if we choose lighter roasted coffees, we can expect more acidic flavors in the infusion.

Hardware fault

It may also happen that the coffee, especially from the espresso machine, may have a sour aftertaste reminiscent of highly mineralized water. This is a fairly unequivocal symptom of coffee machine scaling. The limescale in the coffee machine has calcium as its main ingredient, which can make it sour / salty. In combination with brewed coffee, it gives a sour and astringent result on the tongue. Here, in addition to the procedures related to changing the method of brewing, it is necessary to professionally remove the machine. It is worth adding that for this type of devices you should use low mineralized water (optimally 150 mg / l) and water that is soft. The sum of minerals in the tap water is most appropriate, while the hardness of the water may vary. You can test the water hardness on your own, for example with the help of paper testers provided by coffee maker manufacturers. If it turns out that the tester showed too hard water, use an external filter or a filter installed in the machine.

Good acidity

Finally, it is worth making a reservation that sour coffee does not always mean bad coffee or badly brewed coffee. There are many coffees with a strong acidic taste, yet they are desired and appreciated by connoisseurs. These are coffees with the aftertaste of citrus fruits, strawberries etc., which is a very pleasant, refreshing flavor profile. It is the acidity sought in good quality coffees and it is worth distinguishing it from sour coffee, which is simply a coffee defect in the world or has been badly brewed. Therefore, good acidity is distinguished by slightly different nomenclature. Good sour coffee is said to be acidic, acidic and sour.

Little big thing. What should you know about brewing coffee in a coffee maker?

Coffee maker. Mocha. Moka. Cafeteria ... Many names, but always the same thing. An inconspicuous, two-piece teapot, placed on the stove, thanks to which we can prepare essential, fragrant coffee in a few minutes. If you choose the right model and fresh coffee, and stick to a few basic rules, you will be able to brew a brew that will delight everyone. We will help you with this - here are our tips on how to brew coffee in a coffee maker!

Italian classics open to new experiences

The coffee maker, as we will stick to this name in the article, is a device designed in the 1930s for Antonio Bialetti, in Italy. Despite the passage of many years, the design of the device has not changed, and coffee brewing in a coffee maker is a commonplace in many, not only Italian, homes.

Of course, Italians like Italians still believe that they have the best coffee in the world, that classic Italian espresso blends, dark and not very pleasant smelling, are the pinnacle of taste. And they prefer such coffees in their coffee makers. We know, however, that the world does not end with Italian coffees (although, for example, Gardelli coffees break the stereotype of Italian roasters), and the coffee maker can be perfectly combined with other fresh coffees.

Optimal choice

Where do you need to start? From a good investment. This is not a guide for a young entrepreneur, but this topic cannot be ignored when writing about the coffee maker. When entering any market or browsing various auction sites, you have certainly noticed that the coffee maker is available at your fingertips. The cost of 5 - 30 euros is no expense and it is a shame to bother (at most to tap your forehead) with models that can cost over 100 euros. Unfortunately, this assumption is a big mistake.

A coffee maker is a device that is not worth saving on. Of course, you have to be rational, but investing a few euros more will not only translate into a better taste of the prepared coffee, but can also protect our health and kitchen!

A coffee maker is a device that is not worth saving on!

The basic material the coffee maker is made of is aluminum or steel. These elements are subject to temperature fluctuations and come into contact with coffee and water. Therefore, when choosing a coffee maker that uses poor-quality cheap alloys, we risk not only that the coffee will take on an unpleasant metallic aftertaste. It is also a risk to our health, because coffee will release compounds that we then introduce into our body.

Do you still think it's worth paying less for a coffee maker?

Risk number two is the safety valve. A special valve is installed at the bottom of the coffee maker, where water is poured in. It is not an ornament. It performs a very important function - if for some reason the water could not get through the strainer and coffee to the upper part of the device, the pressure in the lower tank will start to increase rapidly. This can happen, for example, when the coffee is ground too finely and the burner power is too high. The valve should open when the pressure is too high, allowing the steam to escape from there without harming the surroundings.

A special valve is installed at the bottom of the coffee maker, where water is poured in. It is not an ornament.

Coffeemakers of unknown origin and of average quality may have this valve only for decoration. I have heard stories of at least a few people who were torn the coffee machine to shreds, pouring boiling water and coffee all over the place within a few meters. Lucky that no one was standing nearby, or it could end up worse.

Cheap coffee makers also have smelly, rubber seals. I used one before, years ago. Until now, I remember that the coffee, apart from the metallic aftertaste, had the smell of rotten rubber, thanks to the poor-quality gasket, which, despite repeated cleaning, still gave away a few pennies from itself to the coffee.

That is why it is worth choosing a high-end model from proven manufacturers such as Bialetti. Their prices start at less than 30 euros but are worth every euro spent.

But size matters

And it is not true that the bigger the size, the better ... No, you have to find the optimal one for your needs and possibilities. A coffee maker is a device that must be prepared in a full, dedicated volume each time. So if you decide on a 10-cup coffee machine (usually the designation 1 cup translates to 25-35 ml, i.e. one espresso cup), because once a month your friends drop in for coffee, and you drink it yourself every morning ... Well, it can be it's too much of a good thing. Especially that coffee from the coffee machine is characterized by a considerable intensity of taste and a stimulating effect.

A coffee maker is a device that must be prepared in a full, dedicated volume each time.

Therefore, you need to recalculate the size for your own needs. The most common choices are those marked with 3 cups. There are special reducing screens on the market, but they are substitute solutions.

How does the coffee maker work? In a moment, on the occasion of the coffee brewing proposal, I will write more about it. In short, the point is for proper extraction to take place, the coffee should not float in the strainer, but should offer a slight resistance to the water. This is only possible when the coffee filter is full.

Know your kitchen

In order for the coffee maker to work, it must be placed on a heat source, i.e. a gas or induction cooker. Those of you who have a classic gas burner have the least problem. Coffeemakers that can be used on gas constitute the vast majority of the offers of the main players on the market. If you have induction in the kitchen, you need to find a model that clearly shows the possibility of using it on an induction cooker.

For example, it can be a series of Bialetti Venus or GAT Opera coffee machines, but there are also others, in various designs and sizes.

You don't have a gas or induction cooker? Plug-in models are also available, such as the Bialetti Moka Timer. Although they are costly, for some it may be the best solution.
